These terms are the agreement between you and Firstlight for use of the Firstlight app and this website. Please read them. By using Firstlight, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Firstlight is a Christian Scripture storytelling app. It offers narrated stories drawn from Scripture, with illustrations, a read-along transcript, ambient sound, reflection, and prayer. It is made for personal listening and is welcoming for families and listeners of all ages.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Firstlight on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You may not:
Firstlight has no sign-up and no sign-in. You open it and listen. Because there is no account, there are no login credentials for you to keep secure, and nothing for us to suspend. Your listening progress is tied to an anonymous identifier held on your device — see our Privacy Policy for what that means.
Open the app and listen. Some openings play through, with no account and no purchase. A subscription opens the rest of the released library and offline downloads.
Firstlight offers auto-renewing subscriptions, currently a monthly plan and an annual plan. The exact title, length, and price of each plan are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
We may change subscription prices. Where a price rises, the store will tell you and ask for your agreement before charging the new price, in the way its own rules require.
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not by us, so refunds are handled by them under their own policies. On Apple devices, use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, use your Play Store order history. If a purchase did not unlock what it should have, email us first — that is usually something we can fix.
Firstlight retells Scripture as narrative. Stories are adapted and dramatized for listening, and include historical and cultural context. They are not a substitute for reading Scripture itself, and they are not a translation. Firstlight is broadly pan-Christian and tradition-respectful; it does not speak for any particular church, denomination, or authority.
Nothing in Firstlight is professional, medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice.
The narration, artwork, music, story adaptations, design, and the Firstlight name and logo are owned by us or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Your licence to use the app does not transfer any ownership to you.
We are continually adding to and improving Firstlight. Stories may be added, revised, or occasionally withdrawn, and features may change. We aim to keep the app available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Offline downloads depend on space on your device and may need to be refreshed.
You may stop using Firstlight at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, in particular the licence restrictions above.
Firstlight is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to Firstlight is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you stronger rights — in which case that law applies to you.
If these terms change in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Firstlight after a change means you accept the updated terms.
