Firstlight — Support

Last updated: August 29, 2026

Firstlight is a Christian Scripture storytelling app: narrated stories with painted illustrations, a synchronized read-along transcript, ambient sound, reflection, and prayer. This page answers the questions we are asked most often, and tells you how to reach a person.

Contact us

Email gather.connectionevents@gmail.com. Firstlight is made by an independent developer, and every message is read by a person. We aim to reply within two business days.

To help us help you, please include your device model, your iOS or Android version, and the name of the story you were listening to.

Getting started

Do I need an account to listen?

No. Firstlight has no sign-in and no password. Open the app and listen. Listening progress stays on this device.

What can I hear without a subscription?

Open the app and listen. Some openings play through, with no account and no purchase. A subscription opens the rest of the released library and offline downloads.

Playback

Narration stops when I leave the app

Firstlight supports background audio, and playback should continue with a media control in your notification shade or lock screen. If it stops, check that your device's battery saver or background-activity restrictions are not suspending the app, then reopen Firstlight and start the story again.

Can I change the narration speed?

Yes. Open the full player and use the playback speed control. Your choice is remembered for the next story.

Is there a sleep timer?

Yes. The full player includes a sleep timer for quiet listening at the end of the day. Narration fades out when the timer ends.

The read-along text is out of sync

Scrub the player back a few seconds and let it resume; the transcript re-anchors to the audio position. If a specific story is consistently out of sync, email us the story name and we will correct the timing data.

Subscriptions and purchases

How do I restore a subscription on a new device?

Open the paywall on any premium story and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account that originally made the purchase.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by Firstlight, so they are cancelled in your store account:

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store that processed your payment. On Apple devices use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android use the Play Store order history. If a purchase did not unlock what it should have, email us first and we will look into it.

I subscribed but the library is still locked

Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall. If that does not resolve it within a few minutes, email us with the store account email you purchased with and we will investigate.

Downloads and offline listening

Subscribers can download stories for offline listening. Downloads live on your device and can be removed from the story's own screen to reclaim space. If a download stalls, connect to Wi-Fi and try again; partial downloads resume rather than starting over.

Accessibility

Firstlight respects your system text size and reduced-motion setting, and the read-along transcript is designed to work with screen readers. If something in the app is hard to use, please tell us — accessibility reports are treated as bugs, not requests.

Your data

How do I delete my data?

Listening data lives on your device. Delete the app to remove it. Email gather.connectionevents@gmail.com if you need help. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — cancel that in your store account as described above.

What data does Firstlight collect?

Our Privacy Policy explains this in plain language. In short: Firstlight has no ads, does not sell personal information, and does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.
